Coping with Male Hair Loss
Although balding is something that will eventually come naturally for men, not everybody welcomes the idea. A lot of men find balding to be embarrassing and a sign of losing their youth and virility. Many mid life crises have been triggered with the first noticeable signs of hair loss. Even if it’s very common, there are a lot of men who have a hard time accepting their baldness.
Different men have different coping mechanisms when it comes to covering up their hair loss. Some resort to wearing hats at all times. While this is pretty handy, wearing hats isn’t always appropriate for all occasions. Some men spend money on toupees, although finding a toupee that looks like natural hair can be somewhat of a challenge. Some grow the remaining hair that they have and then comb it in a way that would cover up the bald spot. In some ways, this is worse than having a bad toupee on. It’s hard to cover up a bald spot with your own hair. Some people embrace their baldness and just shave everything off. There may be an outline of the receding hairline, but at least it doesn’t look so obvious. Some choose to wear their baldness as if it were a normal occurrence in life (which it is) by leaving their hair alone or by getting a haircut that doesn’t accentuate the loss of their hair. Whatever you choose to do, what’s important is that you are happy with your decision.
If you choose not to live with your bald hair, there are a few things that you can do to remedy it.
- Get a hair transplant. This is a relatively expensive procedure which involves transplanting a site with active follicles to the balding spot. Usually, the follicles have to come from a body part that is genetically resistant to balding.
- Eat the right kind of food. There are certain types of food that will help slow down the balding process and encourage your follicles to grow more hair. Some examples are protein-rich, Silica-rich, and iron-rich foods. You may also take more Vitamin C to help your body absorb and use these vitamins and nutrients more efficiently.
- Avoid stressful situations. We can’t change the way things happen around us, but we can change the way we react to them. Consider seeing a therapist to help you manage stress, or take up a hobby or sport to help you manage stress better. Try not to expose yourself too much to the usual stressors that you have identified in your daily routine. If possible, do not bring work-related stress with you when you go home. Learn how to compartmentalize the issues that you encounter every day.
- Take natural hair-growth inducing supplements such as Provillus.
There are many ways to encourage hair growth these days. Explore these options and pick something that fits you and your lifestyle. You don’t have to pick one right away, read online reviews from people who have actually used the product or went through a procedure. Take your time before you make the decision.
