Not a lot of people are pleased with hair loss. Some can have a sense of humor about it or just get rid of all their hair altogether. Some people really mind the fact that they’ve lost their “crowning glory”. Hair loss can affect both men and women of all ages. Different people use different ways of controlling hair loss. Since we are all unique in terms of physiological makeup, there’s really no cure-it-all for hair loss. A standard kind of treatment may not be applicable for everybody. As such, it’s best to find out which method will work for you by trying out things that as long as they’re safe for your health.

Probably one of the safest things to try is modifying your diet. There are a lot of studies that point out the correlation of hair loss to poor eating habits. One of the first signs that a person is healthy is whether or not he or she has healthy hair. It’s a known fact that a majority of the food we eat these days especially at fast foods are deficient in nutrients.  This pattern of eating greatly affects the quality of hair that you currently have and the rate with which your hair falls out.

It is quite normal for all of us to lose hair every day. In fact, it is a biological cycle that is built in like a natural mechanism. Hormonal imbalance brought about by poor eating habits affects this natural hair loss process.

The main culprit in hair loss is said to be the hormone DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) which is a derivative of testosterone. Under certain conditions, DHT damages hair follicles to the point where they are not able to produce hair anymore. At times hair follicles can still grow hair but the quality of these hairs is not very good, they tend to look very unhealthy.

Since men have naturally more testosterone, the likelihood of producing DHT is higher. This is actually one of the main reasons why hair loss is very common to men. Women tend to have a lower level of testosterone in their body, but hormonal imbalance can trigger an increase. Fat rich diets are known to increase the level of testosterone in the body. A closer look at the average American’s daily fare will show that fat rich foods make up the bulk of it. This doesn’t encourage a favorable hormonal environment for hair growth.

Minimizing fat rich food from your diet will improve the chances of slowing down hair fall rate and encourage growth of healthier-looking hair. Replacing some of your protein sources with vegetable protein can also help a lot. Vitamins and other nutrients that can be found in vegetables, especially those with dark green leaves, inhibit the increase of testosterone and helps in hair production. Foods with Silica can also help in arresting hair loss. Many natural hair loss treatments such as Provillus contain Silica which is safe and good for a healthy rate of hair growth.
